VVIP Area @ Major Festival 2009

Redtech were asked to provide an access and bar service solution for a VVIP area at a major festival in the summer of 2009. This was a perfect opportunity for Redtech to introduce the SKOOT system.
Redtech provided wristbands (with an RFID chip embedded) to cover all of the weekend and daily guests, as well as the staff within this area. These wristbands had to:

    * Manage access to exclusive campsite
    * Manage access to VVIP area
    * Allow “guests” to utilise free bar & BBQ.
    * Enable Skoot to act as a stock control system for the bar

The full capacity of wristbands were activated over the weekend, and 30 handheld readers were used to read wristbands for Access, Food & Drinks. 3 different screens were used dependent on which of these aspects was appropriate, however each handheld was capable of handling any of the functions.

Real-time feed back was provided to the bar operator to inform them of any imminent Out of Stock’s (OOS) and all drinks served were captured by SKU in the control centre instantly, leading to a raft of consumer information, previously never available.

Key Scanning Information

  • Security controlled access to Campsite and VVIP area
  • Every bar and food transaction captured by the Skoot system
  • Multiple orders processed per minute compared to 1 per minute at an average cash bar
  • Multiple serving bar Staff with SKOOT Handheld Terminals at any one time
  • No stock outages compared to previous year
  • Increase in sales year on year

A Few Success Stories

Key promoters brought in to see SKOOT in action highlighted the systems following 3 function’s as revolutionary:

1.Ticketing - finally a workable solution to prevent ticket touts and fraud

2.Food, Beverage & Merchandise - sales information captured (never been captured electronically before)

3.Health & Safety – System that can remotely capture crowd movement

Bar staff were reluctant to return hand held terminals after first night, as they had been so beneficial in capturing large orders & speeding up service where at first they were reluctant to use them.

Some wristbands had restricted access (per day rather than weekend), so staff could identify instantly whether an individual was allowed access or not.

We gave some age restricted wrist bands out, where soft drinks could be ordered but not alcohol, these worked without exception.

Vending was highlighted as a “massive” opportunity using SKOOT, as there would be no need for cash to be left unattended.
