Contactless Payment - 2 day Festival, London

The Brief:

We were asked to provide Wireless connectivity to PayPass® enabled Contactless Payment Terminals that were in key areas within the Festival. We were also asked to train staff, provide onsite support and ensure a reliable system for the duration of the event.

Solution:

A fully redundant Satellite connection that allowed for all payments to go offsite for authorisation.
Site wide Wireless Mesh network to act as the payment backbone
Wirelessly enabled all payment terminals to connect to the Mesh Network
Full support team to be onsite for the duration of the event
Spare payment terminals in the event of a failure, swap out time less that 5 minutes if it is required.
Full staff training to be conducted at the start of each day for all bar staff, bar mangers were instructed on the event refund policy and procedures.

Outcome:

The solution was installed in minimal time working with the Bars contractor to ensure that the bars were fully functional with the addition of the payment terminals to the bar space. We experienced no downtime with any of the terminals and all receipt rolls change outs were managed by Redtech. Overall the system performed very well.

ATM Connectivity for Festivals

The Brief:

We were asked to provide a solution that would enable the Festival Bars and Catering contractor to deploy ATM machines at festivals without the need for intervention by British Telecom (BT) or without the use of 3G/GPRS mobile technologies as both have proven to be unreliable in the past.

Solution:

  • Integration of our satellite equipment with the ATM payment processors Cisco equipment
  • Ensure a very low Latency and low jitter network
  • Provide 1st and 2nd line support on the physical ATM to reduce the need for third party support contractors in the event of a hardware failure of the ATM
  • Fully test the ATM prior to gates open to ensure that transactions are being processed and logged

Outcome:

The solution was implemented in a way that would allow the ATM machines to be set up with a very short lead time. The solution have proven to be very robust and reliable. With our technical support staff to fully manage the ATM’s this allowed resource to be freed up within the Bars and Catering contractors organisation with one less thing for them to worry about. We have been successfully running the ATM machines for the Past three years and expect to continue to do so.

Conectivity for Global Gathering

The Brief:

We were asked to provide Site wide wireless networking to allow internet access, video streaming, a full Telephone PBX exchange and Chip and Pin payments

Solution:

Unified wireless Mesh network that would carry Voice, Data, Video and Chip and Pin Payments.
Bonded DSL solution that provided 20Mbs/ 4Mbs Internet connectivity
Redundant Satellite connection, all key services automatically switched over in the event of a DSL failure
Full bandwidth management platform to allow each service to be fully controllable and manageable.
Ensure a very low Latency and low jitter network
Chip and Pin terminals including connectivity to the Mesh Network
Payment processing for all Chip and Pin payments, to include a customer help desk for payment enquiries.
VoIP telephone exchange that has call queues, call groups, ring groups and per extension voicemails.
VoIP handsets and connectivity to the Mesh Network.
A large number of 0845 direct dial numbers so all production and site could be directly contactable.
Connectivity to cameras through out the site to enable the event to broadcast live webcam footage
Press Wifi Connectivity
Dedicated support for each service for the duration of the event

Outcome:

Building on previous years of success in providing Global Gathering a reliable solution we deployed the services above with ease. All the systems functioned as expect. BT had an issue with the provision on the lines but no one on site was away as our routing equipment routed key traffic over the satellite until BT had resolved there issues. We successfully saw the connection of over 200 wireless devices, chip and pin payment, live broadcast of cameras and 20 calls simultaneously without any adverse effects on services.
